A document demonstrating the existence of a legally binding debt or responsibilityThe name of the check beneficiary, the name and address of the check issuer, the date the check was returned, the reason for the return of the check, a request to immediately arrange for an alternative payment method, and the statement that the notice is being issued in accordance with Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act must all be included in the cheque bounce notice. The NI Act states that a check is only valid for three months after it is issued. However, if the check bounces, one must file a claim within the allotted time frame, which is roughly 75 days from the date the check was dishonored.
